Dr. Tamara Simon
Tamara Simon, MD opened her practice December 1, 2003 as the first OBGYN in Eagle, Idaho. Due to the high volume of gynecology patients and demand for quality care in balancing hormones, Dr. Simon expanded her practice to Rocky Mountain GYN and Hormone Center. As a result, Dr. Simon no longer sees OB patients in her practice.
Born and raised in Boise, Dr. Simon married and had a son, Adam, in 1981. She became a widow when her son was only 2 after her husband, who was a professional skier, died in a tragic accident. She looked to her family to regroup and enrolled at Boise State University. It was there that she met her mentor, Dr. Russell Centanni, who encouraged her to further her education after she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
Dr. Simon then attended U.C. Berkeley and earned her Masters in Public Health in Infectious Disease Epidemiology while working as an AIDS consultant under Dr. Donald Francis, former director of the Center for Disease Control’s AIDS program. During that time Dr. Simon discovered her true passion for helping people and wanted once more to further her education. She applied to Eastern Virginia Medical School where she was accepted and earned her Medical Degree in 1996. She completed her residency at St. Johns Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. As a Public Health Scholar, Dr. Simon served 2 years in Glasgow, Montana, a population of approximately 4000. Being the only OBGYN in a 400 mile circumference, Dr. Simon carried a heavy caseload and valued the hands-on surgical experience needed in a rural community.
Though Dr. Simon loved her patients in Glasgow, she yearned to be closer to her family in Idaho. Dr. Simon was only one of two siblings in a family of eight children who didn’t live in Boise. She moved back to Boise in 2003, meanwhile Adam attended the University of Montana and obtained a degree in geology, which he put to “good” use by becoming a business owner that specializes in extreme skiing (like father like son) in Montana (www.yurtski.com). He and his high school sweetheart, Jenny, were married in 2006 in McCall at Shore Lodge. Adam and Jenny had their first child, Owen, in January 2008. They now welcome Ella, who was born just this last December. Dr. Simon loves being a grandma!
Dr. Simon has five sisters. Tawni, owns the adjoining Renu Medical Spa (www.renumedispa.com). Her other sister, Tegan, also works at our office and the youngest sister, Tia, owns Eagle Magazine (www.eaglemagazine.com).
Dr. Simon loves her family and is passionate about her work and expanding her knowledge in her chosen field of GYN surgery and Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. In March 2006, she attended the Anti-Aging Medicine Conference in Paris, France; in July of 2010 she spoke at the Suzanne Sommers conference in Salt Lake and then just recently, in October, she went to South Korea to help open the Chaum Center which is also an Anti-Aging facility. This has brought new insight to her areas of expertise. She hopes to return to France next year to continue her education. She currently has treated over 15,000 menopausal women seeking treatment options in age management therapies.
Although Dr. Simon has been engaged a “few” times, contrary to rumors she is not married to a developer, a contractor, or a CEO of an Internet company. She remains happily single.
Dana Moore, WHNP-BC is our Nurse Practitioner and specializes in Women’s Health. Dana hails to us from the southern part of the United States from a small boot shaped state called Louisiana. Being from that state has given her unique customs, courtesies and a passion for what she does.
Dana began her nursing career at the young age of 19 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She knew she needed to pursue her desire to obtain a degree as a registered nurse. After practicing only 20 months she enrolled at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA and 3 years later graduated with distinction and obtained her Associate of Science in Nursing in the fall of 1997. She practiced a few years mainly focusing on Women’s Health Surgery. She worked for Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, a Level I Trauma Center, in Shreveport, LA. It is here that she believes she really “cut” her teeth in nursing.
In 1999 she met her wonderful husband who was active duty Air Force Security Forces member (law enforcement). They began dating and then married in January of 2001. They are still happily married with two children.
While working at LSU the events of September 11, 2001 occurred. Being a military wife and also having a desire to help men and women who were serving our country selflessly she returned to school again and completed her degree, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This was completed in December of 2003, again graduating recognized for her academic achievement. After completing her degree she joined the United States Air Force to serve her country and offer her expertise as a trauma nurse.
While on active duty she took classes to obtain a graduate degree and felt a strong pull to women’s health. While serving four years honorably in the military, she received Company Grade Officer Awards and Achievement medal. She separated from the military in 2007 to complete her graduate degree as a Nurse practitioner.
In the fall of 2009, Dana received her degree of a Master’s of Science in Nursing with the focus of Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She received the Excellence in Practice Award for her practitioner track as well. She is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner in Women’s Health.
Dana enjoys scrapbooking, reading and spending time with her family and friends. She exhibits a passion for women and loves working in this career field.
